Position the Arab Region as the leaders in IPv6 and Net5.5G Development
Prepare the Arab Region to smoothly the future high-speed and high-quality Internet
The Arab Digital Economy Strategy states: “Digital Transformation is seen to impact GDP positively”.
As a correlation between IPv6 Deployment Rate and GDP Growth Rate has been demonstrated (Roland Berger Analysis, 2022), this clearly shows that “IPv6 – only” provides the basis for the Digitalization of the Economy. However, the IPv6 Deployment rate is weak and still unbalanced among Arab Countries (Each Member State is at a different stage of IPv6 deployment).
Most Arab Member States already set their National IPv6 Strategy, however, identified key challenges are common and shared by all the Arab Region Member States.
Therefore, there is an urgent need to create a dedicated Regional Platform for dialogue and collaboration to help implementing Arab Digital Strategy 2033 by developing an « IPv6 Regional Framework » as a practical tool for harmonization, alignment, and coordination.
This allows Arab countries to collaboratively overcome these common challenges and share findings as they are targeting the same objective.
Sharing best practices and lessons learnt from their experiences to reduce the current unbalanced IPv6 deployment rate among Arab Member States and position the Arab Region at the same level as the top leaders, is precisely the primary vision of the Arab IPv6 Council.
Arab IPv6 Council will provide guidance and actionable frameworks to help members smoothly entering the IPv6-based Net5.5G era where more than 70% of World’s population will be living in urban Areas.
This necessitates investments in the future network infrastructure as future-proof digital infrastructure. To prevent any Digital Divide in the Arab Countries, the Arab IPv6 Council encourages members to put in place legislation to extend high-speed and high-quality Internet from Urban Areas to Rural Areas.
